An
Invitation
Welcome to the amazing place that is John
XXIII. My name is Janet and
I am the President of the John XXIII College Resident’s
Association. The RA is
an independent association within the college, with a Committee
that consists of 14 elected members, with each member holding
a different portfolio. The Committee is in charge of organising
and encouraging all of the sporting, cultural and social events
that Johns Ressies are involved in. In short, we are in charge
of most of the fun stuff that you will be exposed to if you
come to Johns and are largely responsible for the amazing
college spirit that resides here.
The RA hosts events throughout the year including:
- The Annual College Ball
- Interhall Sports Shield
- Interhall Arts Shield
- Multicultural Week
- Annual College Play
- Tavern Nights
- Out The Back Days
- The Publishing of the Annual Magazine – Pontifex
- Parents Weekend including the Charity Auction
As an elected
Committee the RA is also representative of the student
body, and as such we are active in all aspects
of college
life,
making sure that
your time
here at Johns is as enjoyable as it can be. The thing that separates Johns from the rest is our infectious Johns spirit. It is a spirit that unites the college ensuring
that our success is not only measured by the number trophies in our cabinet but also by the way that we support one
another, look after each other and encourage one another to excel in whatever it is you choose. It is this spirit that is the
envy of all other colleges and halls.
Coming to university and to college is the beginning of a new stage in your life. I would like
to encourage you all to come to Johns, it really is a great
place,
but more
then that, it
has a
great community with great people and plenty of college spirit,
that helps us to be
the premier college on the ANU campus.
Hope to see you soon,
Janet
2008 President of the John XXIII College Residents Assoc
Inc.
