Guest Accommodations

John XXIII College has the largest standard rate rooms on the ANU Campus. These rooms are well appointed and spacious, with views over the National Botanic Gardens, Black Mountain and the attractive College grounds and gardens.

Each single study/bedroom contains the following:

  • King sized single bed and mattress
  • Large, lockable storage cupboard shelf, lamp and hanging space.
  • Sink with hot and cold running water and small mirror
  • Large study desk and ergonomically designed office chair and desk lamp
  • Large, fully upholstered and cushioned easy chair
  • 3 shelf book shelf
  • Pinboard
  • Waste paper and recycling baskets and a large shoe box
  • Central heating unit in each room
  • Two power outlets in each room
  • Direct Dial Telephone with computer voice mail/answering machine services
  • Direct Broadband Network Internet Connection Point (2006)
  • An access security system allowing 24 hour entry to the college.

In addition to the above, each floor at John XXIII College contains:-

  • A free laundry with four washing machines and four dryers, irons and ironing boards.
  • Four communal bathrooms on each level - each provides four enclosed showers and toilets, shaving mirror and full length mirror.

Conference Facilities

1. The Conference/Meeting Room

Since undergoing a refurbishment in 2004, the Conference/Meeting Room at John XXIII College has been transformed into a state of the art multimedia presentation theatre. With plush seating for up to 60 people, the Conference/Meeting Room now boasts a 2x3m projector screen, with the ability to make presentations in the following formats:-

  • DVD/TV/Video/CD
  • PowerPoint and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Foxtel and Star Satellite Connections

The presentation capabilities of this room are also aided by a lectern and whiteboard, and are complimented by tea and coffee making facilities and an inviting fire place for the colder winter months.

2. The Senior Common Room

The historic Senior Common Room is available at specific times of the year for those functions looking for an extra level of elegance. With its 14 seat oval oak boardroom table, plush leather recliners, appropriately stocked bar and balcony overlooking the gardens of the ANU, the Senior Common Room is perfect for hosting smaller gatherings of a more intimate nature.

The SCR is also suitable for small presentations, with a TV screen suitable for the use of DVD/Video and CD formats.


3. The Junior Common Room

This communal area is available free to all guests of the college, and is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a productive day. Open 24 hours a day, this room boasts:-

  • A 130cm Rear Projection Television with Foxtel, as well as satellite channels from Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore and India.
  • Large leather sofas, bean bags, and easy chairs surrounding an open fire place
  • A Table Tennis Table
  • A fully functional snack room with tea and coffee making facilities, a microwave, and a fridge.

4. The Tavern

Available to conference and overnight guests upon request, the Tavern can cater for large functions with both domestic and imported beers and wines, selected cocktails, and a selection of savoury snacks. The Tavern also has a medium sized billiards table.


5. Dining

As one of only four catered colleges on the ANU Campus, John XXIII College provides some of the best cuisine available on campus. With a recently refurbished dining hall that seats up to 280 people, and a kitchen capable of producing the finest brasserie style and 3 course meals from French, Vietnamese, English and Australian Chefs, the John XXIII College Dining Hall is the perfect caterer for both large and small group functions. We also offer an alfresco dining area which is an attractive option in the balmy spring and summer evenings.


6. Parking

Through the use of both its own facilities and those of the ANU, John XXIII College has close proximity parking facilities to cater for your conference group. Parking spaces can be purchased for $3.50 per day per vehicle and this price may be included in the quotation for larger groups.


7. Location

Only 3 hours drive from Sydney, 10 minutes from Canberra Airport, and within walking distance of both the Canberra City centre, the National Museum and National Botanical Gardens, John XXIII College is the perfect location to see all the sites Canberra has to offer while hosting your function or accommodation
