Everything you need, right at home

We have some of the best residential facilities on campus, and we’re in the process of giving our rooms and shared spaces a refresh and refurbishment.

Our shared spaces have been created with you, your passions and academic achievement in mind; from quiet to collaborative study spaces, social areas, music rooms, pool tables and so much more. Our amenities and the vibrancy and energy our residents bring to them are what makes J23 such a great place. The whole place has access to the WiFi network too – so you can go digital whenever, wherever.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED, RIGHT AT HOME

  • Study Rooms

    When you need to get out of your room but want to keep those study vibes going, there’s J23’s study room open around the clock. There are individual study booths as well as larger tables for those times when you need to spread those books, mind-maps and research out.

  • Music Rooms

    For times you feel like a jam session or want to practice your Bach (or Chopsticks, no judgement!) we have two soundproofed rooms on offer. Stocked with drumkits, pianos and secure lockers to store your own gear they are open from 8:30 am to 10:30 pm for all your musical hopes and dreams to come true.

  • Common Rooms

    Designed with unwind time, we have common rooms for residents to just hang out. On hand are table tennis, Foosball, a pool table and a couple of large screen TV’s (with Foxtel) to plonk in front of. You’re also sorted with WiFi, dining booths, fridge, microwave and tea and coffee facilities.

  • Outdoor Dining

    Right next to the dining hall is the outdoor, or alfresco, seating area with plenty of tables if dining under Canberra’s sky is your preference. Residents can also use the barbeques anytime they have a hankering to flex their culinary skills or feel like good old BBQ feast – potato salad anyone?

  • Laundry Facilites

    Every floor at J23 has its own laundry equipped with washing machines, dryers and ironing facilities. And they are free to use so no excuses for running out of clean socks!

  • The Pelican Cafe

    Open to residents and their mates the Cafe is open every day from 830am-1230pm.

    On Tuesday and Thursday evenings it converts to the Bar operating with a full liquor licence.

  • Bike Shed

    Anyone who tells you the ANU campus is small is a fibber, with bikes a popular way to get to classes and the city quickly and easily. We’ve got plenty of secure bike storage to keep your wheels safe and sound when you’re not peddling to your next adventure.

  • Dining Hall

    We love food and our in-house catering team, in fact we’re the only college on the ANU campus that has their own team of chefs.


    Our crew of qualified chefs and trained kitchen staff not only fill our bellies and nourish our minds, but they’re also very flexible. So if you have a food allergy or specific requirements, we’ve got you covered.
