Lyle moved into Johns in 1974 and spent three years living at the College before moving off campus in 1976. Lyle graduated with a B. Science degree from ANU, and after a successful career in the public services, has now retired with his wife Vicki (a former Australian politician and member of the ACT Legislative Assembly, 2001 to

2020).

Lyle is a prolific writer, editor, and poet. He has written on tax, population, electoral reform, and social policy.
